The Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra is a gypsy-ska band based out of Victoria BC, Canada. Known for delivering their unique brand of acoustic, high energy Gypsy-Ska-Roots-Grass with dedication and precision, the band gained significant recognition in the Canadian music scene. Emerging as one of Canada's most exciting young multi-genre roots band, the Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra's faithful underground following has expanded to National awareness and saw them playing festivals across Canada and the US in 2011. The band has had several lineup changes over the years. Band members: Ian Griffiths: accordion, vocals; Kurt Loewen: guitar, vocals; Patrick M'Gonigle: Violin, mandolin, vocals; Peter Mynett: double bass, vocals; Paul Wolda: djembe, cajon, vocals. They recently released their second ep, The Double EP, after their return from a four month self-driven tour of Europe. First Half recorded on Vancouver Island at the Woodshop with Zak Cohen in the Spring of 2008. Second half recorded in the cellar of a 100 year old apartment complex in Vienna, Austria with Hans Wagner and Florian Widhelm in the Summer of 2008. Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra performs regularly at festivals across Canada, and isn't afraid to get political with some of the causes they support related to the environment, indigenous rights and youth at risk. The Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra's energetic performances, eclectic sound, and commitment to social causes made them a memorable presence in the Canadian roots music scene.
