Ken Yates is a Canadian folk singer-songwriter born in London, Ontario, on June 15, 1989. Originally from London, Ontario, Yates studied at the Berklee College of Music. Since first planting roots within the Canadian music scene in 2011, Ken Yates has steadily grown a reputation as one of the country's brightest singer-songwriters. His career began with the release of "The Backseat EP" in 2011, and he gained early recognition when fellow Berklee alum John Mayer responded with a lengthy blog post praising his song "I Don't Wanna Fall In Love." After almost a decade of extensive touring, supporting artists like Passenger, Stu Larsen, Rose Cousins, and Jenn Grant, Yates has released several albums including his 2013 debut "twenty-three," the 2016 album "Huntsville," "Quiet Talkers," and "Cerulean" in 2022. Ken Yates won the Canadian Folk Music Awards for English Songwriter of the Year and New/Emerging Artist of the Year at the 13th Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2017 for his 2016 album "Huntsville," which was produced by Jim Bryson. His music is characterized by introspective lyrics, sophisticated songwriting, and a warm, intimate vocal style that has earned him a devoted following.
