Lina Allemano, born October 20, 1973, is a Canadian jazz trumpet player, composer, and improviser. Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Allemano moved to Toronto in 1993. At ten years old, she began to play her brother's old trumpet, and at age 12, she began to take classical lessons. Her first club concert was at age 15. She is educated in both classical and jazz trumpet and specializes in extended technique on her instrument. She began performing with Howard Johnson, Don Byron, Dave Holland, Mike Murley, and Joe Lovano. Allemano was featured as one of the top innovative trumpeters for the future in DownBeat Magazine, and her band Lina Allemano Four was named for four years in a row in 2025, 2024, 2023, and 2022 for 'Rising Star Jazz Group.' LINA ALLEMANO FOUR is an acoustic chamber-jazz quartet that plays Allemano's original music, written specifically for the group with a mandate of strong group interaction, improvisation, and sonic exploration. The quartet features saxophonist Brodie West, bassist Andrew Downing, and drummer Nick Fraser. Each member is a creative and highly expressive soloist and improviser bringing distinctive musical character and contributions to the band's collective sound since 2005. LINA ALLEMANO FOUR's album "VEGETABLES" was nominated for 2022 JUNO Awards 'Jazz Album of the Year (Group).' Her innovative compositions and fearless approach to improvisation have made the Lina Allemano Four one of Canada's most exciting contemporary jazz ensembles.
