About

Gianna Lauren is a Canadian singer-songwriter originally from Alberta and Ontario who has called Halifax, Nova Scotia home, where she became a fixture in Halifax's thriving, collaborative music scene. Her sound features warm guitar tones, brooding melodies, and remarkable tenor, with songs laced with themes of human behaviour and adaptation, delivered with thoughtful and charismatic performances. Lush arrangements and measured vocals create a haunting ambiance. Lauren's second full-length album "Some Move Closer, Some Move On" (2010) was recorded by producer Daniel Ledwell and released by Forward Music Group, receiving significant airplay on CBC and campus/community radio throughout North America. In 2012, she recorded her follow-up "On Personhood" at the House of Miracles studio with engineer Andy Magoffin and producer Justin Nace, recording six tracks live in the studio with multi-instrumentalist J.J. Ipsen and drummer Marshall Bureau. She has been releasing moody, atmospheric indie rock for more than a decade, most recently with the "Vanity Metrics" EP. The New York Times described her music as "unstoppable." In 2015, Lauren broke into the European market and toured through England and Western Europe, including showcases at The Great Escape Festival, Reeperbahn, and Liverpool Sound City. Gianna Lauren's music is characterized by introspective lyrics, atmospheric production, and a distinctive vocal style that blends vulnerability with strength.
