About

Brianna Lizotte is a Métis Canadian fiddle player based in Edmonton, Alberta, who received a JUNO Award nomination for Traditional Indigenous Artist of the Year at the JUNO Awards of 2025 for her album "Winston & I." Born and raised in Sylvan Lake, she attended high school in Red Deer. She grew up in a household where music was played, whether it was from home videos or kitchen parties. At the age of 10, most of the musicians in her family passed away, so she took it upon herself to keep the music alive. She released her debut album "Scratch 'Em" in 2018 before studying music at MacEwan University, where she graduated in 2023. At MacEwan, she discovered an interest in jazz and incorporated some big band jazz elements into "Winston & I." In 2016, she received the Rising Star Award from The Alberta Men and Women of Country Music. This has led her to many opportunities such as competing twice in the Canadian Grand Masters, music festivals across Alberta, and traveling to Rome to support the Métis delegates during their meetings with the Pope in 2022. She was a 2022 recipient of the MusiCounts Accelerate Scholarship. Apart from performing, Brianna can be found teaching fiddle lessons, Métis history through music and dance workshops, and in studios recording for documentaries, EPs, singles, and more. Her dedication to preserving and sharing Métis musical traditions through her contemporary approach has made her an important voice in Indigenous music.
