About

Aleksi Campagne is a Montreal-based contemporary indie-folk fiddler and singer who offers a unique take on the fiddle-singing tradition. Born into Canadian music royalty as the son of Paul Campagne (of Hart-Rouge fame) and folk icon Connie Kaldor, Aleksi began performing alongside his mother at age five. His musical journey took him to Paris at 19 to study under jazz violin legend Didier Lockwood, and he later became the only student ever accepted into the classical violin, jazz violin, and jazz voice performance programs simultaneously at McGill University. Campagne's innovative approach blends folk songwriting with an edgy, multi-layered sound using voice, violin, and looping-effect pedals. His completely bilingual debut album, featuring 10 songs in both French and English, earned him the Canadian Folk Music Award for Francophone Artist of the Year in April 2024. Penguin Eggs and Roots Music Canada named him New Discovery of the Year, and he has graced the stages of Canada's most beloved folk festivals including Mariposa, Regina Folk Festival, and Northern Lights Festival.
